How to implement the pouring molding of silicone?

Mon May 26 16:21:00 CST 2014

Step 1: Before starting your molding process, you should deal with your original model. You should clean your original model with soap water, and dry it. Then spray and brush a thin and an even layer of release agent.

Step 2: Build a frame surrounding the original model (the inside surface of the mold frame should be applied some release agent too), then seal the seams in case that the silicone liquid will come out.

Step 3: According to the specified mixing ratio, mix the two parts of the molding material evenly, and put the mixture in the vacuum machine to degas it for a short time (the time depends on the volume of the silicone liquid, but not degas it for too long, because the working time of molding material is short and limited).

Step 4: Here you come to the pouring stage. Pour the liquid on a fixed point of the mold frame. Pour it slowly and make sure the flowing liquid is in a thin and stable stream in case of the bubbles capture. When the liquid level is at least 1.5 cm higher than the highest point of the original model, you can stop pouring operation.

Step 5: After 3-5 hours, the mold can be cured, and you can begin to demould. But you’d better put it into actual production after 24 hours in order to obtain a perfect molding effect.
