RTV-2 silicone rubber for plaster statue mold making

Plaster statue has been applying to the field of decoration of the architecture widely. RTV-2 molding silicone rubber is the perfect raw materials to make the plaster statue mold. The mold determines the quality of its products. So, the first thing we need to do is to select the high quality RTV-2 silicone rubber for plaster statue mold making.

Before you start the molding process, there are mainly the following two aspects which you must pay attention to:

1. The inside and outside surface of the original statue model must be clean and bright enough.

2. Flat surface without any residual pore.

If you have a plaster statue in hand, then do you know how to make a mold to copy a same one? The following will show you the miraculous molding process of plaster statue with RTV-2 silicone rubber.

1. Fix your plaster statue model on the prepared wooden board with good-quality clay.

2. Measure the RTV-2 silicone rubber and curing agent with electronic scale by the ratio of 100:2. Then keep stirring until it takes on a uniform color. Some bubbles will get in during the stirring process, which must be exhausted by means of vacuum-pumping; otherwise the bubbles will badly affect the quality of the plaster statue mold.

3. Brush the first layer of silicone rubber with the thickness of about 1 mm. After 15 minutes, brush the second layer. The number of layers of RTV-2 silicone rubber depends on the size of the original model. Then place the gauze or glass fiber to increase the tear strength and tension of the mold. Continue to brush the third and fourth layer.

4. Dig appropriate number of tenons to ensure the mold easy to match.

5. Demoulding after the RTV-2 silicone rubber is totally cured. Next, make an outer mold with gypsum.

6. The complete process has been done. Please lay the mold aside for 24 hours in order to obtain better performance before it is put into production. It should be stored in ventilated, cool and dry place.
